“The fruit for our Sauvignon Blanc is meticulously farmed by one of the best teams of viticulturists in the Valley. Our particular block of Musque clone Sauvignon Blanc is grown in deep, fertile soils in Rutherford with a healthy amount of riverbed gravel that allows for equal parts robust vine development and good drainage.

With nutrient rich soils the vines can grow an ample canopy and produce a hearty fruit set. We then have a broad scope to make canopy management and fruit thinning decisions to maximize flavor compounds in the clusters. The 2013 vintage climate was ideal for growing Sauvignon Blanc.

The Musque clone is known for its aromatics and this wine swells with perfumy notes of honeysuckle, fresh chamomile, green apple and dry grass. On the palate this wine comes across as moving through sleek notes of white peach, lemon oil, brioche and a toasty spice component.

On the palate there is a harmonious balance of bracing acidity and a sumptuous richness from front to back. This yin and yang was achieved by barrel aging in a combination of new and used French oak, as well as stainless steel. The 2013 Jones Family Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc is an outstanding and memorable wine, which warrants serious consideration and reflection.”
