2006 The Sisters

"The 2006 “The Sisters” blend of Cabernet, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot is immediately apparent. A small dose of Cabernet Franc adds floral notes on the bouquet and a few hundred pounds of Petite Verdot creates a broad, beefy mid palate. The wine is darker than previous vintages and begins with notes of menthol, cassis, smoke and plum. The palate is filled with varietally correct elements of saddle leather, black olives, sweet tobacco and cedar. The Sisters doesn't suffer at all from some of the aggressive tannin that was the undoing for some wines in 2006. Its fruit sweetness kicks in early and the light tannins on the finish contribute a chewiness that both broadens and deepens the experience of the wine."
