Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and vineyard manager Jim Barbour work together to maximize the potential of our location and produce outstanding wines that will continue to mature and gain complexity with time.

Jones Family Vineyards produces two wines sourced exclusively from our sustainably farmed estate vineyards: Jones Family Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and “The Sisters” Cabernet Sauvignon. 

During the 2009 vintage, we added a third wine to our portfolio: a Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the San Mateo Vineyard, a certified organic parcel of gravelly soil in the famed Rutherford Bench.

Jones Family VINEYARDS
2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Estate Cabernet is a distinct reflection of our hillside, with hallmark flavors of red and black fruits, tobacco and mint. The weather and growing season impart distinctive impressions each vintage. The Estate Cabernet is approachable at release, and evolves elegantly with extended cellaring.

“2019 is a vintage with much lower yields in the vineyard. The small berry clusters create an intensity of flavor and softer tannins. The Estate Cabernet is an incredibly balanced wine that reflects the mild, even growing season and captures the essence of the vintage with its broad plush texture and dark fruit mingled with savory spices.”

The Sisters
2019 Cabernet Sauvignon

The Sisters began in 2000 as a project to create a wine from the youngest of our estate grown vines and has evolved into a wine that is quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sisters is the more forward of our wines with a red fruit driven palate. While it is a wine that one can enjoy immediately upon release, it is thrilling to see the evolution each vintage goes through as it ages in the cellar.

Jones Family Vineyard
2020 Sauvignon Blanc

In 2008 we purchased an organically farmed Sauvignon Blanc vineyard located north of Rutherford. We approach this project as a quest for a serious Sauvignon Blanc, one that retains a distinctive sense of place and varietal, and harkens to the Bordeaux style of winemaking. We aim to demonstrate that Sauvignon Blanc of this caliber can improve with age.

The goal with this wine each vintage is to make a Sauvignon Blanc that is on the austere and serious side, favoring lean minerality over plush, rich fruit.

“In the glass, the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc displays a luminous pale yellow gold color. Vivid aromas suggest lychee, crushed river rock, white lilac and meyer lemon zest. The palate boasts notes of white peach, honeysuckle, grapefruit pith, and guava. This vivid Sauvignon Blanc has a refined structure that will last for ten plus years in the cellar.”
